Katya felt her heart go heavy upon hearing the words of her collaborator Nabila.

00:00:08

Katya,

00:00:09

I've found another position.

00:00:10

I'm leaving at the end of the month.

00:00:13

Katya looked at Nabila in disbelief.

00:00:15

She had planned to announce her promotion at the end of the month,

00:00:18

recognizing her great professional qualities.

00:00:22

But why?

00:00:23

asked Katya.

00:00:24

It was the first time she'd sought sincere feedback.

00:00:27

Indeed,

00:00:28

Katya had never asked Nabia for feedback

00:00:30

during their two years of working together.

00:00:33

Nabia took a deep breath.

00:00:35

I never dared to tell you what I was unhappy with.

00:00:38

I had ideas,

00:00:39

but I kept them to myself.

00:00:40

You never asked for my opinion.

00:00:43

I saw mistakes you were making that could have been avoided.

00:00:46

Clients complained behind your back,

00:00:48

Katya.

00:00:48

They didn't feel heard by you.

00:00:51

I thought it wasn't my place to tell you.

00:00:53

As for me,

00:00:54

I gradually became demotivated by somewhat routine work.

00:00:58

Two years without variety is long.

00:01:01

I would have liked you to entrust me with new projects.

00:01:04

Katya was not expecting Nabila's words.

00:01:07

Nothing had prepared her for this,

00:01:09

but it's true that she had never asked for feedback.

00:01:12

They both communicated a lot,

00:01:14

but only about current projects.

00:01:17

Finally,

00:01:18

added Naya,

00:01:19

the training on assertiveness that you refused me,

00:01:22

that really affected me.

00:01:24

You didn't try to understand why it was essential for me.

00:01:27

You made your decision without really listening.

00:01:30

Katya bit her lip.

00:01:32

Her own management mistakes becoming clear.

00:01:35

I'm sorry,

00:01:36

she said.

00:01:37

I didn't know.

00:01:39

Nabila shook her head.

00:01:40

I'm sorry too.

00:01:42

I now understand that I should have told you all this earlier.

00:01:45

I thought keeping silent was safer,

00:01:47

but I was wrong.

00:01:48

It cost us both.

00:01:50

Silence settled between them heavy with regrets and realizations.

00:01:55

Katya understood the importance of regularly

00:01:57

asking for feedback from her collaborators.

00:02:00

Nabila realized the importance of breaking the silence

00:02:03

and daring to give feedback to her manager,

00:02:06

even when he or she doesn't ask for it.
