Everyone wins.

00:00:09

At the very top of the podium are benefits in terms of image,

00:00:12

both internally with employees and externally with future recruits,

00:00:17

prospects,

00:00:17

and even customers.

00:00:19

A 2015 McKinsey study found the most diverse companies

00:00:23

were more likely to attract the best talent,

00:00:27

improve their customer fit,

00:00:28

and even employee satisfaction.

00:00:31

Let's begin with employee satisfaction and well-being.

00:00:34

Diversity and inclusion are about capturing the uniqueness of the individual

00:00:39

and welcoming and valuing them.

00:00:42

We inevitably feel better in a company that values and respects us for our talents,

00:00:47

skills,

00:00:48

abilities,

00:00:49

and even our differences.

00:00:51

Everyone feels listened to,

00:00:53

taken into account,

00:00:54

acknowledged,

00:00:55

and dares to be fully themselves,

00:00:57

or almost.

00:00:59

Self-censorship is lowered,

00:01:01

resulting in a feeling of fairness and social justice.

00:01:04

Conflicts and communitarianism decrease in favor of

00:01:08

cohesion.

00:01:10

Valuing difference is indeed a source of internal cohesion.

00:01:14

It boosts employee motivation as well as pride

00:01:17

in belonging and involvement in their organization.

00:01:21

Decreases in staff turnover,

00:01:23

feeling good about their company and their team.

00:01:26

Employees are less likely to look elsewhere

00:01:28

just to escape the difficulties and discomfort.

00:01:31

Departures are more serene,

00:01:33

fewer potential litigation settlements,

00:01:35

and fewer appeals to the labor courts.

00:01:38

Finally,

00:01:39

this well-being and better team cohesion increase employee commitment.

00:01:43

A Delo study reveals the beneficial effects

00:01:46

of inclusive companies on employee commitment.

00:01:49

Reaching an average of 67% of inclusive

00:01:52

companies compared to 20% in other organizations.

00:01:56

This is a huge difference and should be enough to

00:01:59

convince any organization to implement a diversity and inclusion policy.

00:02:04

A team that has developed good cohesion and is

00:02:07

diverse is a team that will create emulation.

00:02:10

Emulation thanks to diversity,

00:02:13

well-being thanks to inclusion

00:02:15

and extra motivation and commitment.

00:02:18

This is the rolled out red carpet for performances to unfold in the team.

00:02:23

Now let's look at how diverse and

00:02:25

inclusive organizations also get good press externally.

00:02:29

First,

00:02:30

with future recruits,

00:02:31

successive Delote studies show that diversity and

00:02:34

inclusion help attract and retain talents,

00:02:37

attraction of talents that are sensitive to the value of diversity.

00:02:41

This is particularly true for younger generations,

00:02:45

attracting different talents,

00:02:47

which closed companies do not open their doors to.

00:02:50

What?

00:02:51

You've had 3 job changes in your career?

00:02:54

What?

00:02:55

You took 2 years off to travel after college?

00:02:58

What?

00:02:59

You have a college degree in literature,

00:03:01

history,

00:03:02

or psychology,

00:03:03

and you want to work in a high tech company?

00:03:05

Ah,

00:03:06

you're not fluent in English.

00:03:08

There are many recruits who don't check all the boxes of closed companies,

00:03:13

and the lack of openness in these organizations

00:03:16

makes them miss out on great potentials.

00:03:19

These different talents do not want to work

00:03:21

in an organization where they feel unwelcome.

00:03:24

Recognizing and welcoming these previously

00:03:26

discriminated against talent profiles,

00:03:29

those profiles that don't tick all the right boxes,

00:03:32

stimulates their loyalty and retention towards their employer.

00:03:36

I'm grateful that I was given a chance,

00:03:39

they say.

00:03:40

And let's face it,

00:03:41

these inclusive organizations have a good reputation.

00:03:44

They are among the top companies to work for.

00:03:47

Each year,

00:03:48

national newspapers publish a great place to work ranking,

00:03:51

which celebrates companies that offer the

00:03:53

best working conditions to their employees.

00:03:57

A diverse and inclusive company in which employees

00:03:59

feel good attracts and retains valuable talents.

00:04:03

This is a first good point,

00:04:05

and as a ripple effect,

00:04:06

it also attracts and satisfies its customers.

00:04:10

One,

00:04:10

because inclusion improves customer focus,

00:04:13

employees refocus on the common goal of creating quality

00:04:17

product or service for the customer or end user,

00:04:20

setting aside their internal conflicts.

00:04:22

2,

00:04:23

because employees of inclusive organizations have developed strong skills

00:04:27

in listening,

00:04:28

communicating and cooperating,

00:04:31

all of which will greatly benefit the customer.

00:04:34

3,

00:04:35

because diverse teams are better able to understand the

00:04:38

varied points of views and needs of diverse clients

00:04:42

and to propose innovations adapted to their market,

00:04:45

culture,

00:04:46

and country.

00:04:47

Inclusive companies allow employees to feel welcomed,

00:04:51

recognized,

00:04:52

included,

00:04:52

and connected.

00:04:54

Through a ripple effect of values and good practices,

00:04:56

the client also feels welcomed,

00:04:59

recognized,

00:05:00

included,

00:05:00

and connected.

00:05:02

The foundations are laid for an agile and creative collaboration.
