One day he decided to pit two of his collaborators,

00:00:13

Arthur and Morgan,

00:00:14

against each other for a coveted promotion to a customer service position.

00:00:19

The announcement of this professional joust ignited spirits,

00:00:23

sowing discord within the once united team.

00:00:26

The team's atmosphere deteriorated.

00:00:29

Conflicts and power games emerged,

00:00:31

making collaboration between Arthur and Morgan nearly impossible.

00:00:36

This competitive energy spread like wildfire,

00:00:39

hindering cooperation within the team.

00:00:42

After confiding his disappointment to his own CEO,

00:00:45

he received a masterful lesson from him.

00:00:48

Those who seek cooperation aim for a win-win.

00:00:52

Those who embrace competition aim for a win lose.

00:00:57

He then decided to abandon the bow of

00:00:59

competition relentlessly favoring healthy cooperation in his team.

00:01:04

However,

00:01:05

within his team,

00:01:06

two salespeople were constantly in competition.

00:01:09

The director chose to stop communicating

00:01:12

about their respective successes and failures

00:01:14

and encouraged them to do the same.

00:01:17

He wanted to extinguish any spark of competition between the two.

00:01:21

Alas,

00:01:22

he discovered that without this element of comparison and competition.

00:01:26

The salespeople lost their dynamism and fervor.

00:01:29

It was a game for them.

00:01:31

In reality,

00:01:32

for some people and in certain professions,

00:01:34

competition can be stimulating and positive as long as the rules are

00:01:38

clear and the competitors respect each

00:01:41

other without resorting to underhand tactics.

00:01:44

The manager therefore opted for active promotion of cooperation

00:01:49

while learning to discern the rare

00:01:50

occasions when competition could be beneficial.
