00:00:02

a recent engineering school graduate,

00:00:04

faces an identity dilemma after taking the MBTI test.

00:00:09

Classified as an INFP,

00:00:11

she discovers she is introverted,

00:00:13

thoughtful,

00:00:13

and measured in contrast to the extroverted profiles like the ESTJ,

00:00:19

which seem to be more in demand by companies.

00:00:22

Lea especially admires extroverts for their spontaneity,

00:00:25

quick action,

00:00:26

and what she sees as natural charisma.

00:00:30

In her job search,

00:00:31

Lea begins to mold her identity to match that of an ESTJ.

00:00:36

She attempts to project an image of extroversion,

00:00:39

direct leadership,

00:00:40

pragmatism,

00:00:41

and a structured approach,

00:00:43

hiding her two INFP strengths such as creativity,

00:00:46

empathy,

00:00:47

and a great capacity for adaptation.

00:00:50

On LinkedIn in her resume and doing interviews,

00:00:53

she highlights extroverted qualities

00:00:56

going against her introverted nature which

00:00:58

favors reflection before speaking and action.

00:01:02

This lack of consistency between her natural

00:01:05

identity and the one she seeks to project

00:01:08

becomes a hindrance.

00:01:09

Employers sensing this gap hesitate to hire her.

00:01:13

Finally,

00:01:14

exhausted by this fruitless quest and the burden of playing an inauthentic role,

00:01:20

Lea decides to change her strategy.

00:01:22

She begins to value her INFP qualities,

00:01:26

emphasizing her ability to bring unique perspectives,

00:01:29

her empathetic nature,

00:01:30

and her innovative approach.

00:01:33

She chooses to present an authentic image in line with her introverted traits.

00:01:38

This authenticity catches the attention of several companies

00:01:41

who see her not only as a competent

00:01:44

engineer but also a collaborator capable of bringing

00:01:47

depth and reflection essential to their teams.

00:01:51

Lea's story demonstrates that personal branding

00:01:54

is only effective when you've learned

00:01:56

to identify and value what makes you unique both personally and professionally

00:02:01

without being swayed by the sirens of mass consciousness.

00:02:05

There are no good or bad profiles.

00:02:07

The key is to be consistent and authentic.
