Benito,

00:00:04

the manager,

00:00:05

seemed to be running in all directions.

00:00:08

At first glance,

00:00:09

one might think he was a brave hero facing countless challenges,

00:00:13

except that Benito was the victim of a strange manipulation,

00:00:17

reverse delegation.

00:00:19

One morning Sophie called out to him,

00:00:22

Benito,

00:00:22

the photocopier is acting up again.

00:00:24

Can you take a look at it?

00:00:26

I'm really bad with these things.

00:00:28

Without thinking,

00:00:29

Benito took charge of the situation,

00:00:31

getting his hands dirty with black ink.

00:00:34

At noon,

00:00:35

Thomas knocked on his door.

00:00:37

Sorry to bother you during your break,

00:00:38

but my computer crashed,

00:00:40

and I don't know how to restart it.

00:00:42

With a sigh,

00:00:43

Benito left his lunch to try to understand the problem

00:00:46

and call the IT service himself,

00:00:49

something Thomas could have done.

00:00:51

The afternoon was no better.

00:00:53

Caroline,

00:00:54

all flustered,

00:00:55

interrupted Benito in his task.

00:00:57

Benito,

00:00:58

our client,

00:00:58

Mister Du Pont is angry about a delivery delay.

00:01:01

I don't know what to say to him.

00:01:03

You always have the right words.

00:01:05

Benito,

00:01:06

putting aside his report,

00:01:08

started mediating.

00:01:10

Finally,

00:01:10

at the end of the day,

00:01:12

just as Benito was about to leave the office,

00:01:14

Martin arrived looking troubled.

00:01:16

I'm sorry,

00:01:17

Benito,

00:01:18

but I've fallen behind on a report that I

00:01:20

have to give to the client tomorrow without fail.

00:01:23

I won't have time to review and finalize it.

00:01:26

An hour later,

00:01:27

Benito was still at the office.

00:01:30

The next day an idea sprouted in Benito's mind.

00:01:33

He organized a meeting and displayed a huge sign

00:01:37

Delegation workshop.

00:01:39

How not to do others work.

00:01:41

The team laughed,

00:01:43

understanding the message.

00:01:45

The following weeks were transformative.

00:01:48

Benito worked on promoting autonomy and accountability in

00:01:51

his teams with a readjusted delegation approach.
