00:00:02

45 years old,

00:00:03

epitomized the caution of his generation with a deeply ingrained belief.

00:00:08

It's foolish to resign until you've found another job.

00:00:11

Day after day he remained loyal to

00:00:13

his demanding job despite his growing dissatisfaction.

00:00:17

He was no longer happy at work,

00:00:19

but his belief prevented him from leaving before finding another position.

00:00:24

His mental and physical fatigue intensified,

00:00:27

making him less effective in his job search and less convincing in interviews.

00:00:32

At home,

00:00:32

his wife shared the same belief and echoed her fears,

00:00:36

emphasizing the financial risks associated with resignation.

00:00:40

Tired and demotivated,

00:00:42

he continued to work the same number of hours,

00:00:45

but his effectiveness suffered.

00:00:47

His boss regularly reprimanded him.

00:00:50

His initial belief,

00:00:52

which he thought was rational and safe,

00:00:54

trapped him in a professional deadlock that after 2 years

00:00:57

led to his dismissal and increased difficulty in finding work.

00:01:02

On the other end of the belief spectrum,

00:01:05

Kim,

00:01:05

30 years old,

00:01:07

embodied the energy of her generation.

00:01:09

Unlike Tom,

00:01:11

Kim harbored the belief that

00:01:12

it's foolish not to resign if you're not or no longer happy at work.

00:01:17

With her partner's support,

00:01:19

she decided to leave her job after 3 years in her position.

00:01:23

She no longer found pleasure in it and had been going to work with dread for 2 months.

00:01:29

She tried to evolve her role by talking to her boss,

00:01:31

but to no avail.

00:01:33

She refused to be dragged into a spiral

00:01:36

of dissatisfaction affecting her work and personal relationships.

00:01:40

She chose the path of courage and risk taking and resigned,

00:01:44

convinced that an unsatisfying work environment would only

00:01:48

hinder her search for a more fulfilling job.

00:01:51

After 3 months of active and positive searching,

00:01:54

Kim found a job that suited her perfectly.

00:01:58

Our beliefs shape our well-being and reality.

00:02:01

Tom's belief,

00:02:02

steeped in fear and obligation,

00:02:04

led him down a negative spiral,

00:02:06

while Kim's courageous and hopeful approach allowed

00:02:09

her to bounce back and find satisfaction.

00:02:12

And you,

00:02:13

do you cultivate the belief like the younger generation

00:02:17

that it's foolish to stay in a job that doesn't make you happy any more.
