He worked with copper and made beautiful utensils that he sold at the market.

00:00:08

He was happy to live and had good self-esteem.

00:00:11

He was only waiting to find the woman of his life.

00:00:15

One day an envoy of the king announced that the king wished to marry

00:00:18

his daughter to the young man of the kingdom who had the best self-esteem.

00:00:23

On the appointed day,

00:00:24

Tang went to the castle and found himself among several 100 young suitors.

00:00:29

The king looked at them all and asked his

00:00:31

chamberlain to give each of them 5 flower seeds.

00:00:35

Then he asked them to return in the spring with

00:00:37

a pot of flowers from the seeds he'd given them.

00:00:40

Tang planted the seeds and took great care of them,

00:00:43

but nothing happened.

00:00:44

No sprouts,

00:00:45

no flowers.

00:00:47

On the agreed date,

00:00:48

Tang took his flowerless pot and went to the castle.

00:00:52

Hundreds of other suitors carried pots filled with beautiful flowers,

00:00:56

and they mocked Tang and his empty pot.

00:00:59

Then the king asked each to present their pot to him.

00:01:03

Tang came a bit intimidated in front of the king.

00:01:06

None of the seeds sprouted,

00:01:08

Your Majesty,

00:01:08

he said.

00:01:09

The king replied,

00:01:10

Tang,

00:01:11

stay here next to me.

00:01:13

When all the suitors had paraded,

00:01:15

the king sent them all away except Tang.

00:01:19

He announced to the entire kingdom that Tang

00:01:21

and his daughter would marry the following summer.

00:01:25

It was an extraordinary celebration.

00:01:28

Tang asked the king,

00:01:29

his father-in-law,

00:01:30

Majesty,

00:01:31

how is it that you chose me for your son-in-law when my seeds did not bloom?

00:01:37

Because they could not bloom.

00:01:38

I had them boiled all night.

00:01:40

Thus you were the only one to have enough

00:01:43

self-esteem and respect for others to be honest.

00:01:46

It was such a man I wanted for a son-in-law.
