Teams - Create a team using Teams templates Tutorial

Create a team in Microsoft Teams from a template. The video walks through opening the create team window, choosing From template, and selecting a template like Manage project. It shows previewing created channels and apps, then naming the team, setting privacy, and optionally renaming channels before finalizing. After creation, it explains viewing channels and accessing template tabs inside the General channel.

00:00:09
A template saves time.
00:00:11
Instead of creating the entire structure manually,
00:00:14
teams can automatically prepare channels and tools tailored to a specific need,
00:00:19
such as managing a project,
00:00:21
organizing an event,
00:00:23
or on boarding new employees.
00:00:25
To get started,
00:00:27
open the create team window.
00:00:29
By default,
00:00:30
Teams offers to create a team from scratch.
00:00:33
If you want to use a different creation method,
00:00:36
click more create team options.
00:00:39
A new page appears.
00:00:41
On the left,
00:00:42
several choices are offered.
00:00:44
The from template option allows you to create
00:00:47
a team from an already prepared structure.
00:00:50
The option from another team allows you to copy the structure of an existing team,
00:00:56
such as its channels,
00:00:57
apps,
00:00:57
or certain settings.
00:00:59
The from group option allows you to add teams to an existing Microsoft
00:01:04
365 group.
00:01:07
In this tutorial,
00:01:08
we'll use the from template option.
00:01:11
In the center of the screen,
00:01:12
Teams displays several available templates.
00:01:16
For example,
00:01:16
you can choose manage a project,
00:01:19
manage an event,
00:01:20
onboard employees,
00:01:22
or other templates depending on your organization's needs.
00:01:26
Click on the template that best suits your situation.
00:01:29
Here we take the example of the manage project template
00:01:33
a preview window opens.
00:01:35
It indicates what the template will automatically create.
00:01:39
In this example,
00:01:40
the template offers multiple channels such as general
00:01:44
announcements,
00:01:45
planning,
00:01:45
and resources.
00:01:47
It also offers several applications such as approvals,
00:01:50
lists,
00:01:51
issue tracker,
00:01:53
project tracker,
00:01:54
milestones,
00:01:55
OneNote,
00:01:56
planner,
00:01:57
SharePoint pages,
00:01:58
our site,
00:01:59
and workflows.
00:02:01
This step simply allows you to check if the model meets your needs.
00:02:04
If so,
00:02:05
click use this template.
00:02:08
Teams then returns to the team creation window,
00:02:11
fill in the team name,
00:02:13
then add a description if necessary.
00:02:15
Also check the type of team
00:02:18
in the example shown,
00:02:19
the team is set to private,
00:02:21
which means that only people who are added or invited will be able to access it.
00:02:26
Since the template already contains multiple channels.
00:02:29
Teams also displays the customized channels option.
00:02:33
Click on it if you wanna rename some channels before the team was created.
00:02:37
The customized channels window opens.
00:02:40
You can then change the names of the channels offered by the template.
00:02:44
For example,
00:02:45
you can keep general and then adapt the announcements,
00:02:49
resources,
00:02:49
or planning channels to suit your project.
00:02:52
When you're done editing,
00:02:53
click done.
00:02:54
When everything is ready,
00:02:56
click create.
00:02:57
Teams then starts creating the team.
00:03:00
A message indicates that the creation is in progress.
00:03:04
You can stay on the screen to add members
00:03:06
afterwards or close the window and add them later.
00:03:10
Once the team is created,
00:03:11
it appears in the list of teams on the left side of the screen.
00:03:15
In the example we find the test 2 team
00:03:19
with its main channel general,
00:03:21
a see all channels link allows you to see the other channels created by the model.
00:03:26
When you open this list,
00:03:28
Teams displays the different channels available.
00:03:31
Some can be displayed directly,
00:03:34
others can be hidden.
00:03:35
You can click show to bring up a channel in your list.
00:03:39
Finally,
00:03:39
open the general channel to see the structure created by the model
00:03:44
at the top of the channel you will find several tabs,
00:03:47
for example,
00:03:49
conversation,
00:03:50
shared
00:03:51
page notes,
00:03:53
issue tracker.
00:03:55
These tabs give access to spaces or tools already prepared by the model.
00:04:00
You now know how to create a team's team from a template.
00:04:04
Templates are useful for getting started
00:04:06
quickly with an organization already ready.
00:04:09
You can then tailor the channels,
00:04:11
display what you need,
00:04:13
and use the tabs that are most useful for your project.
