Clipchamp - Use Transitions in Clipchamp Tutorial

Use transitions in Clipchamp to move between scenes on the same track. Hover to preview, then drag and drop a transition between two assets; a transition icon and a duration bar appear. If a transition isn’t suitable, adjust its type or use fade options in the property panel for text. You can search transitions by keyword, but the library offers many effects and remains simple to use.

00:00:08
Initially,
00:00:09
when an asset on the timeline is selected,
00:00:11
only its basic properties can be adjusted.
00:00:14
The options are therefore quite limited.
00:00:17
The transitions available in the transitions tab
00:00:21
allow you to control the effect used to move from one scene to another
00:00:25
on the same track.
00:00:27
The list of transitions in clip chum is organized by effect type,
00:00:31
and hovering over a transition lets you preview it.
00:00:34
Adding a transition is as simple as dragging and
00:00:38
dropping it directly between two assets on the timeline.
00:00:42
A transition icon will then appear
00:00:45
along with its duration
00:00:47
represented by the light purple area.
00:00:50
If you don't like the effect
00:00:52
from either panel,
00:00:53
you can also change the transition.
00:00:56
You're smart coach.
00:00:58
I'll also apply a transition between the appearance of my logos.
00:01:02
Be careful though.
00:01:03
A transition controls the change between two scenes or assets.
00:01:08
Since my title is the only asset on its track,
00:01:11
I can't use a transition between two assets.
00:01:14
Instead I can use the fade options in the property panel
00:01:18
to apply a specific fade effect to the text.
00:01:21
Let's take a look at the result.
00:01:23
It looks good,
00:01:24
but remember
00:01:25
you'll need to adjust all the durations manually
00:01:28
to make sure everything flows smoothly and consistently.
00:01:31
Let's test another transition by selecting the transition icon
00:01:36
and choosing a different effect,
00:01:39
such as the circular wipe effect.
00:01:44
You can also search for a transition by keyword
00:01:48
using the search field in the transition panel.
00:01:51
The usefulness of this feature is somewhat limited
00:01:55
considering the number of effects already
00:01:57
available in Clipchamp's transition library.
00:02:00
Let's zoom in and take a closer look at the result.
00:02:03
It's basic,
00:02:04
it's limited,
00:02:06
but it's effective.
00:02:07
Clipchamp remains a simplified video editing solution.
