the security of your online accounts is crucial.

00:00:09

With Microsoft 365 accessible on multiple devices,

00:00:13

it's essential to understand and use multi-factor authentication

00:00:18

to protect your personal and professional data from cyberattacks.

00:00:21

Multi-factor authentication is a security method that

00:00:24

requires more than one form of identification

00:00:27

to access an account.

00:00:29

It adds an extra layer of protection by combining what you know,

00:00:32

your password,

00:00:33

with what you have,

00:00:35

such as a phone or an authentication app.

00:00:38

Cyber criminals use various methods to access your information,

00:00:42

such as phishing and malware.

00:00:44

Simply using a password is no longer sufficient

00:00:47

to ensure the security of your accounts,

00:00:49

especially when they are accessible from multiple connected devices.

00:00:54

With multi-factor authentication,

00:00:56

obtaining just the password is not sufficient for access to an account,

00:01:00

as an additional verification factor is required.

00:01:03

Here are some examples of additional verification factors

00:01:06

a temporary code sent via SMS or generated by an authentication app,

00:01:12

an approval or rejection notification on your phone

00:01:15

using biometric features such as fingerprint or facial recognition.

00:01:20

Multi-factor authentication strengthens security on Microsoft 365

00:01:25

by adding a layer of protection against cyberattacks.

00:01:28

Prevent password exploits by implementing MFA.
