Clipchamp - Create a Clipchamp Project and Import Your Media Tutorial

Import media into a Clipchamp project by dragging, dropping, or browsing local files from the home page, then centralize assets in the project’s assets folder. Create a video project and store all media there, with copies saved in OneDrive. Add media to the timeline by placing the playhead and clicking plus or dragging onto the timeline, then rearrange or remove items while keeping the originals in the library.

00:00:07
it is best to begin by adding media to it
00:00:10
either by importing a video
00:00:12
or by starting with an empty project.
00:00:15
Here I choose to import a source from the home page
00:00:18
either by dragging and dropping it
00:00:20
or by browsing for a local file.
00:00:24
Be careful,
00:00:25
the files will be duplicated in your OneDrive at the location shown here.
00:00:33
Opening the file from the pop-up allows me to
00:00:36
play it and associate it with a new editing project
00:00:40
using the open editor button.
00:00:43
I strongly recommend using the create video project option
00:00:47
and importing all your media directly into the project.
00:00:51
Indeed,
00:00:52
as soon as you start a project,
00:00:54
all imported media will be centralized in an assets folder
00:00:58
associated with your editing project.
00:01:01
This can result in the same media being stored multiple times
00:01:06
on your PC
00:01:07
at the root of your OneDrive
00:01:09
and in the assets folder.
00:01:12
Once I am in the editor,
00:01:13
I can import additional media,
00:01:16
an image stored in my downloads folder in an audio file.
00:01:21
I can also browse for media that is already stored in my OneDrive,
00:01:25
as I am doing here.
00:01:28
From this same OneDrive button
00:01:30
I can access media stored in Teams or
00:01:32
SharePoint and import it from a collaborative location
00:01:36
as mentioned,
00:01:37
each imported media file will generate a copy of
00:01:40
the source media in the project's assets folder.
00:01:44
Remember to name your project and define a storage location from the start.
00:01:49
By default,
00:01:50
the entire project will be stored in the clip chump folder in your OneDrive
00:01:55
under my files,
00:01:56
videos,
00:01:57
then clip champ.
00:01:59
This is a good approach,
00:02:00
especially for an editing project that I may work on over several sessions.
00:02:05
I need to be able to find it easily.
00:02:08
This is the best solution because the project may not
00:02:11
always appear immediately in the list on the Clipchamp home page
00:02:15
to add media to the timeline,
00:02:18
I position the playhead where I want the media to appear
00:02:21
and click the plus button,
00:02:23
or I simply drag and drop the media directly onto the timeline.
00:02:28
I can then rearrange the media if I want to change the order
00:02:33
again using drag and drop,
00:02:35
note that deleting media from my media library
00:02:38
removes it from the project
00:02:40
as well as from the timeline in the assets folder.
00:02:44
Deleting an item from the timeline on the other hand,
00:02:48
keeps the media in my media library so I can reuse it later.
00:02:52
In the clip champ project storage folder
00:02:55
you will find the folder containing your sources in the assets folder,
00:02:59
the exports folder containing the videos you have
00:03:02
exported at the end of your editing session,
00:03:05
and your editing project,
00:03:07
which you can reopen at any time.
