Clipchamp - Edit a Video with Clipchamp Tutorial

Edit a video with Clipchamp: the editing area shows a timeline with video, audio, and title tracks. Drag and drop media from the library into the timeline, resize and rotate elements, and extend durations. Use the plus button to insert items at the cursor, adjust fades and volume in the right pane, crop media to fit, and rearrange with drag and drop. Zoom the timeline for precision, remove gaps, and stack tracks to control overlap.

00:00:08
which is the editing area where we can build our video by adding,
00:00:13
for example,
00:00:13
a clip from my media list.
00:00:16
By default,
00:00:16
the timeline consists of a video track,
00:00:19
an audio track,
00:00:21
and a title track,
00:00:22
allowing me to choose elements from the Microsoft library.
00:00:27
As soon as the timeline contains content on two tracks,
00:00:30
it becomes fully rearrangeable.
00:00:33
Your media can be added by dragging
00:00:35
and dropping them directly into the desired position
00:00:39
as with this logo
00:00:41
whose display duration I can extend.
00:00:44
I can also resize it by defining its position
00:00:48
and if needed,
00:00:49
applying a slight rotation.
00:00:52
Adding various elements from my media using the
00:00:55
plus sign inserts them at the cursor position
00:00:59
with the overall arrangement then requiring some manual adjustment.
00:01:04
For greater convenience,
00:01:06
feel free to use the zoom control or
00:01:09
the control plus mouse wheel shortcut
00:01:12
to zoom out of the timeline.
00:01:14
This gives you a wider view of the editing
00:01:16
area and makes it easier to position elements.
00:01:20
I can either place clips one after another or swap their positions
00:01:25
again using drag and drop.
00:01:27
It is also possible to quickly remove empty spaces
00:01:31
by hovering over the gap and clicking the trash can icon
00:01:35
to soften the appearance of
00:01:37
or transition between elements.
00:01:39
I can select the relevant media
00:01:42
and adjust the fade in and fade out settings in the right hand pane.
00:01:46
The volume of the audio track,
00:01:48
which here contains music,
00:01:50
can also be adjusted in the right hand pane
00:01:53
so that it does not overpower the speaker's voice.
00:01:57
Media can be cropped to fit the size of the preview area.
00:02:01
Elements can be inserted at any point,
00:02:03
as in this example where I add a title from the library.
00:02:09
A media item previously inserted into the
00:02:12
timeline can also be inserted multiple times,
00:02:15
as in this example where I retrieve my logo
00:02:18
and define a specific size and position
00:02:21
for this particular sequence on screen.
00:02:25
The number of tracks in the timeline is adjusted dynamically
00:02:29
and is useful for managing the stacking order of elements.
00:02:33
Drag and drop is then the simplest
00:02:35
way to organize elements hierarchically or chronologically.
00:02:40
If I move my logo to another track further down,
00:02:43
it will be hidden by the clip above it.
00:02:46
These operations are basic but essential for
00:02:49
understanding the fundamental principles of clip champ.
00:02:53
The possibilities offered by transitions and more dynamic
00:02:56
effects will be covered in other tutorials.
00:02:59
Finally,
00:03:00
note that a video clip that also contains an audio track
00:03:03
can be muted using the small speaker icon on the track.
