Teams - Generate live captions and transcription during a meeting Tutorial

Start transcription during a meeting by selecting Record and Transcribe, then choose start transcription and ensure the spoken language matches participants. The transcript appears in a side panel and displays live text as speech occurs, distinct from live subtitles. You can view, read, and download the transcript after the meeting in different formats (Word or VTT) and delete it if you have rights. The transcript remains available in the meeting recap or chat for later reference.

00:00:06
even if it wasn't enabled before the meeting.
00:00:08
The transcript creates a text of what is said during the exchange.
00:00:12
It can then be used to reread the meeting,
00:00:15
search for information,
00:00:17
or retrieve minutes more easily.
00:00:19
In the meeting,
00:00:20
click the more button,
00:00:22
open record and transcribe.
00:00:24
Here you can start recording,
00:00:26
which records the meeting and also starts the transcription
00:00:30
according to the available settings.
00:00:33
In this example
00:00:34
we only choose start transcription.
00:00:37
Teams then ask for the language spoken during the meeting.
00:00:41
This adjustment is important.
00:00:43
It must correspond to the language actually used by the participants.
00:00:48
If people speak English,
00:00:50
leave as is,
00:00:51
then confirm
00:00:52
the transcript panel opens on the side.
00:00:55
From this point on,
00:00:56
team starts displaying live text with
00:00:59
the interventions recognized during the meeting.
00:01:02
The transcription is different from the subtitles.
00:01:05
The transcript remains available after the meeting,
00:01:09
while the subtitles are mainly used to follow what is being said live.
00:01:13
To view the captions,
00:01:15
you can use the option in the transcript panel
00:01:18
or go back to more options,
00:01:20
open language and speech,
00:01:23
then choose show live captions.
00:01:26
Teams then displays the text at the bottom of the meeting
00:01:29
while people speak
00:01:31
in the language settings be careful not to
00:01:34
confuse the spoken language with the translation.
00:01:38
If you choose a wrong spoken language,
00:01:41
teams may misunderstand the words and may offer to change the setting.
00:01:46
This feature may depend on your organization's license and settings.
00:01:51
At the end of the meeting
00:01:52
you can find the transcript in the meeting summary or chat.
00:01:57
Open the completed meeting,
00:01:59
then go to recap,
00:02:00
then a transcript depending on the available view.
00:02:03
You can read the transcript directly in Teams.
00:02:06
You can also download it.
00:02:08
The word format is convenient for reading and editing text.
00:02:12
The VTT format is used more for subtitles as it contains a text with time markers.
00:02:18
If you have the necessary rights,
00:02:20
you can also delete the transcript.
