False.

00:00:13

Just because a password contains a special

00:00:15

character doesn't mean it is automatically secure.

00:00:17

A password is still vulnerable if it is short or easy to guess,

00:00:21

even with an at sign or a number.

00:00:23

For example,

00:00:24

hello it's signed 2024.

00:00:26

It seems complicated,

00:00:27

but it's actually a very common password,

00:00:29

so risky.

00:00:30

What really matters is the length,

00:00:31

the diversity of characters,

00:00:33

and especially the fact that it is unpredictable.

00:00:35

A good password is one that cannot be guessed.

00:00:38

Even by knowing a bit about your life.

00:00:40

Can I use the same password everywhere if it is complicated?

00:00:45

False.

00:00:46

Even very complicated.

00:00:47

A unique password used everywhere is a huge vulnerability.

00:00:50

If a single site gets hacked and your password leaks,

00:00:53

attackers will try it on all other services email,

00:00:56

social networks,

00:00:57

professional accounts,

00:00:58

etc.

00:00:59

This is called a cascade attack,

00:01:00

and it is formidable.

00:01:01

The best practice is to have a different password for each account

00:01:05

and to keep track of them without going crazy.

00:01:07

Use a password manager.

00:01:10

Hackers always test very complex passwords first.

00:01:15

False.

00:01:15

It's actually the opposite.

00:01:17

Hackers always start with the simplest and most common passwords,

00:01:20

first names,

00:01:21

birth dates,

00:01:21

pet names,

00:01:22

sequences like Q W E R T Y or 123456.

00:01:27

These are combinations they test first because they often work.

00:01:30

So no,

00:01:31

they don't attack complex words right away,

00:01:33

but if your password is easy to guess or already known from a leak,

00:01:36

it won't last long.
