Teams - Manage your Teams teams Tutorial

Organize your teams and Microsoft Teams by grouping channels into sections and managing visibility. Hover a channel name, open the three-dot menu, and choose actions like open in a new window, adjust notifications, hide, edit, or manage. Add channels to a section or create a new section with a name and optional icon for quick access. Use See all channels to filter, search, or add channels. Manage teams from the team menu to add members, set roles, adjust settings, and explore apps like Forms, Lists, OneNote, SharePoint, Planner, or Power BI.

00:00:04
we'll look at how to manage and organize your teams and Microsoft Teams.
00:00:09
In the new interface,
00:00:10
your conversations,
00:00:12
channels,
00:00:12
and teams
00:00:13
can be grouped into sections.
00:00:15
This allows you to keep the most important items on hand
00:00:19
without having to go through the entire team list each time.
00:00:23
To organize a channel,
00:00:25
hover over its name,
00:00:27
then click the three dots that appear on the right.
00:00:30
The menu gives you access to the main actions of the channel.
00:00:34
You can open the channel in a new window,
00:00:36
adjust its notifications,
00:00:39
hide it,
00:00:40
edit it,
00:00:41
or manage the channel.
00:00:43
The show an option allows you to add this channel to a section,
00:00:47
for example,
00:00:48
by choosing favorites,
00:00:50
the channel moves up to that section while
00:00:52
still being available in its original team.
00:00:56
This is handy for quickly finding a channel that you consult often
00:01:00
if you don't have an existing section that matches your organization,
00:01:05
you can create a new one
00:01:06
to do this,
00:01:07
use the show an option again
00:01:09
and then choose new section.
00:01:12
Give the section a clear name
00:01:14
optionally add an icon
00:01:16
and then confirm
00:01:18
the section will then appear in the list on the left.
00:01:21
You can group channels or conversations that have the same purpose here
00:01:26
for example,
00:01:27
priorities,
00:01:28
managers track projects or favorites.
00:01:32
If a channel isn't useful on a day to day basis,
00:01:35
you can also hide it.
00:01:37
The channel does not disappear from the team.
00:01:40
It's simply removed from your main display,
00:01:43
making the list more readable.
00:01:45
To find a team's channels on or off,
00:01:48
click see all channels.
00:01:50
The page that opens allows you to filter channels,
00:01:53
search for a specific channel,
00:01:56
add a new channel,
00:01:57
or choose which channel should appear in your list.
00:02:00
The options for managing a team are in one place.
00:02:04
Hover over the team name,
00:02:06
then open the menu with the three dots.
00:02:09
Depending on your rights,
00:02:10
you can hide all channels,
00:02:12
add a member,
00:02:13
add a channel,
00:02:14
manage the team,
00:02:16
manage tags,
00:02:18
copy the link.
00:02:19
Archive the team,
00:02:21
leave or delete it.
00:02:23
Choosing manage team will take you to the team's admin area.
00:02:27
The members tab displays owners,
00:02:29
members,
00:02:30
and guests.
00:02:31
This is where you can check who is on the team and what role each person has.
00:02:36
To add a person,
00:02:38
click add member,
00:02:39
search for their name or email address,
00:02:42
then select it.
00:02:44
Before validating,
00:02:45
you can check the assigned role.
00:02:48
By default,
00:02:49
the person is added as a member,
00:02:51
but the role can be adjusted if you have the necessary permissions.
00:02:58
The settings tab groups the team settings
00:03:01
in team details you can edit the team name,
00:03:05
description,
00:03:06
privacy,
00:03:07
or image.
00:03:08
Further down,
00:03:09
the different sections allow you to manage member permissions,
00:03:13
guest permissions,
00:03:14
mentions,
00:03:16
team code,
00:03:17
fun tools,
00:03:18
tags,
00:03:19
or even team exploration.
00:03:21
Take the time to read each category before editing it,
00:03:25
as these settings can change the way members interact with the team.
00:03:29
The apps tab lists apps that have already been added to the team
00:03:33
such as forms,
00:03:35
lists,
00:03:36
OneNote,
00:03:37
SharePoint,
00:03:38
Planner,
00:03:38
or Power BI.
00:03:40
You can search for an app,
00:03:42
sort the list,
00:03:43
open an app's options,
00:03:45
or add new ones.
00:03:47
The get more apps button opens the Team store.
00:03:50
Here you can search for apps and add them to your work environment.
00:03:54
Now you know how to organize your channels with sections,
00:03:57
hide or re-show channels,
00:03:59
access team options,
00:04:01
manage members,
00:04:02
adjust settings,
00:04:04
and view related apps.
