Available in Cybersecurity

00:00:11

False.

00:00:12

A personal computer can be hacked,

00:00:14

stolen,

00:00:14

or fail.

00:00:16

Cloud services,

00:00:16

however,

00:00:17

are often better protected.

00:00:19

Data encryption,

00:00:20

automatic backup,

00:00:21

technical monitoring,

00:00:22

but as always,

00:00:24

everything depends on the service used and the strength of your password.

00:00:28

Professional cloud services

00:00:30

well secured,

00:00:31

offer protections like encryption and access management,

00:00:35

unlike personal storage on a hard drive.

00:00:38

True,

00:00:39

reliable clouds use advanced security technologies,

00:00:41

restricted access,

00:00:42

encrypted data,

00:00:43

backup on multiple servers.

00:00:45

A hard drive at home has none of these guarantees.

00:00:47

A failure,

00:00:48

virus,

00:00:49

or accident is enough to lose everything.

00:00:51

Carefully chosen,

00:00:52

the cloud is often more reliable than local storage.

00:00:56

With a cloud backup,

00:00:57

there is no need to save on an additional support like an external hard drive.

00:01:02

False.

00:01:03

The cloud is an excellent solution,

00:01:05

but it does not replace a real backup strategy.

00:01:07

There is a simple and effective rule,

00:01:09

the 321 rule.

00:01:11

Have 3 copies of your data on two different media with one stored off site,

00:01:15

like in the cloud.

00:01:16

This method especially protects against ransomware,

00:01:18

those programs that block your files and demand a ransom.

00:01:21

With multiple backups,

00:01:23

you can restore your data without giving in to blackmail.

00:01:26

So no,

00:01:26

the cloud is not necessarily less secure than your computer,

00:01:29

and when used properly,

00:01:31

it is part of a solid backup strategy.
